‘World’s Best Spas’ The Beautiful Publishing Company
The Mayr Health & Detox Spa has long been recognised as one of the world’s leading health spas, offering a cleansing, relaxing retreat away from the stresses of modern life. The Mayr cure is based on the recognition that a malfunctioning digestive system may often be the cause of many physical and emotional disorders. Guests detoxify with the help of healing fasts and complementary therapies to achieve homeostasis. This is combined with lectures and training for a healthy lifestyle.
The Spa is on Lake Wörth in Austria, close to Italy and Slovenia, and is surrounded by meadows, woodland and mountains. It has a total of 70 rooms, both single and double, all with en-suite bathroom, radio, telephone and television, with most having a balcony or terrace. There are also six apartments with their own gardens overlooking the lake.
Guests can choose between a wide variety of treatments and activities including the F. X. Mayr Health Cure with regular treatments by specially trained F. X. Mayr doctors. An intensive tailor-made dietary regime also provides detoxification treatments. Other procedures include spinal massages, reflexology, lymphatic drainage, osteopathy, Kneipp hydrotherapy, detoxification baths and special mud baths. There are weekly medical lectures on how to maintain a healthy lifestyle for body and mind, as well as cookery courses and medical lectures plus the distribution of related literature. A fitness test, metabolism analysis, gymnastics, Nordic walking, supplements and minerals can involve personal trainers. The spa also has a laboratory for infusions, sea salt oxygen breathing therapy, blood oxygenation, blood examinations and the measurement of blood acidity and free radicals. A special fertility programme is also offered. And, as might be expected, there are also beauty therapists and a beauty salon using organic toxin-free Organic Pharmacy products.
The restaurant has a panoramic view of the lake and seats up to 110 guests. Each guest is provided by the doctor with a diet most suited to his or her individual needs and preferences.
The hotel’s indoor swimming pool is open all day for guests. Other facilities include a steam room, solarium, sauna, exercise and fitness rooms, a small gym, use of nearby tennis courts and bicycles for those looking to improve their fitness and there is also a local golf course.
