People have lost the art of wearing perfume and often complain that the fragrance doesn’t ‘last’.
On the flip side, many women (and men) make the mistake of dousing themselves with their chosen scent and repelling the very beau they hope to enchant. Better to leave a ‘sillage’ of scent as you leave the room than allow our perfume to announce our arrival. For a lasting whisper of scent, take time to consider what you apply, where and how.
Begin by bathing with bubble bath, soap or shower gel scented with your fragrance. By using complementary bath and body products, the fragrance is literally ‘layered’ on the skin to ensure a subtle yet enticing aroma which lingers throughout the day or evening.
After drying, follow with a touch of perfume at the wrist, inner elbow, behind the knees and in the dip in your collarbones.
Finish with a layer of matching body lotion or cream. Although you may find this back to front, as Roja Dove explains, you would never put toner over your expensive face cream as the alcohol would damage the cream underneath. The same goes for perfume.
When needed, refresh your fragrance throughout the day with a spritz of Eau de Parfum.
TIP:
Why Eau de Parfum rather than Eau de Toilette?
About 80% of Eau de Toilette will have disappeared by lunchtime if you spray it in the morning, however 50% of Perfume will still be on skin after 24hours.
