Samantha Marshall goes ...Skin Deep
by Samantha Marshall
Christmas is over, you've danced and drunk your way through the New Year, but it's still mighty cold! Yes winter is here in all its glory. Weve all turned up the heat to keep us warm and toasty, but your skin is still dry, flaky, tired and dull. No matter how much you moisturise or up your water intake theres still no LA glow...sound familiar?
Salon insiders and beauty afficionados all know the secret is in the scrub! Your skin has roughly 80 layers of dead skin yuck! As we age, the rate your skin naturally renews itself depreciates from 3 weeks to a whopping 3 months! Its time for some Skin S.O.S girls...!
At Urban Retreat weve not only sourced the latest in skin boosting exfoliating treatments; in keeping with the Credit Crunching theme of 2009, we've categorised them by your trend-setting personalities. Whether you're a Stella McCartney-following Eco-Warrior Princess determined to reduce your carbon footprint, a label loving, trend addicted Fashionista or a new breed savvy Recessionista; stealthily purchasing timeless designer classics and results driven treatments to stand the test of time, we have a treatment and a product to suit you all... | |

Keraskin Floral Peel Facial (£75) a favourite of local celebrity actress Lucy-Jo Hudson, this new innovative brand (from the makers of Kerastase get it?) features the latest in skin science whilst still maintaining your skins health and balance. This revitalising treatment will renew and rejuvenate your skin and give you that new season healthy glow youve been lusting after...
Recessionista
Microdermabrasion (from £30) I like to alternate this on my clients with a Murad Aha peel (from £25), the results are not only fantastic but amazingly long-lasting. Alternate one per month and keep up results in between with Dermalogicas Multivitamin Thermafoliant. These treatments arent just limited to the face, we have many requests from beach beauties to diminish bumps on the backs of arms (keratosis pilaris an inherited condition that blocks the follicles), thighs and even buttocks! |

Dermalogica, one of my all time favourite brands has launched another CULT product Multivitamin Thermofoliant (£35.80 for 75ml). This buttery scrub not only polishes your skin to a silky finish, but it also helps to fight the signs of ageing as the unique thermal activity delivers potent vitamins deep into the skins dermis.
Eco-Warrior Princess
For a delicious home scrub mix 1tsp white sugar with 1tsp organic honey massage in and rinse or lick off... whichever is easier! It even warms slightly on the skin and its practically free!
Treat yourself 1-2 times a week for oily/combination skin and 2-3 for normal/dry skin. Acne Prone skin responds better to chemical peels such as Guinot Gommage Biologique (£26 for 50ml) - a gel that turns to oil once massaged into the skin, lifting dead skin using fruit acids.
Winter Boosters
For super soft hands and feet this winter try a Paraffin Wax treatment with your manicure or pedicure extra nourishing and only £10.
Drench hair with moisture and a much needed vitamin boost with a hydrating Kerastase Professional Hair treatment book in February and receive a Keraskin 4 Seasons Cleansing Ritual and a Blowdry for just £55. For more information about treatments in salon please visit http://www.urbanretreat.co.uk |
