Bridal Nail Tips

by Leighton Denny

You spend months trying to find the right dress, perfect makeup, and best hairstyle, so don’t neglect your hands and feet. Both should look perfect up until the last day of your honeymoon.

When to Start

At least six months before the wedding! Develop a relationship with a nail technician that you trust and visit the same person every other week for manicures and monthly for pedicures.

At-Home Pre-Wedding Maintenance

To keep hands and feet in the best shape between appointments, follow a simple regimen; a little extra time spent each day at home will yield the greatest results.

Once or twice a week, gently exfoliate your hands and feet then rinse, pat dry and moisturise your skin immediately. (Try Leighton Denny Best Defence)

Three times a week, apply a nail oil or balm (Leighton Denny Cuti-lips doubles as a lip balm) to your nails and cuticles then cover them either in plastic wrap, or warm, wet towels to trap moisture in. Leave them for half an hour before unwrapping, there’s no need to wash the balm off.

Hands

The most elegant choice for wedding-day fingernails is pale shades and natural French polish. The contrast between a white dress and a dark fingernail is usually too dramatic – unless that’s what you want!

The current trend is for pink washes, white washes, and pale-pastel shimmers rather than a chalky French manicure. Try Leighton Denny Natural White and Leighton Denny Barely There for a natural bridal French.

Feet

The summer bride who sports a sandal or open-toe shoe may want to match her fingers and toes, but there are no hard-and-fast rules.

For a playful “something blue” try the pale pink-azure shimmer of Leighton Denny Butterfly Wings nail varnish.
