Surviving the Season

by Elaine Kauder

Tis the season to be jolly – or so they say! Along with all those joyous and festive times comes chaos, numerous pressures, stressful moments and more often than not, hangovers!

Christmas is a time of year when no matter how happy we might feel, there is almost always a stressed out colleague, sad passer-by, angry person sitting next to you on the tube, or a family member that is being pushed to their limits. Because everything we do is energy based, we are without doubt affected by others and how they are feeling. Have you ever experienced a heavy feeling after being in someone’s energy? You feel so drained; all you want to do is cocoon yourself up into a ball and sleep.

Our lives consist of having to constantly multi-task our time and energy, but this is a period of the year when we have to contend with being pulled into even more directions – whether it be countless party invites, bagfuls of Christmas shopping or entertaining family.

It is therefore necessary to grab precious moments which allow you to regain your balance and find your inner peace, after all beauty is from within and no amount of makeup can truly re-create that happy glow (although Daniel Sandlers new 24carat lip gloss can certainly help fake it!)

Ok, so it’s all very well to point out these issues, but what can we do about it and how do we get to this place of serenity and calmness to enhance the way you feel from inside out?

1. Light a candle (my favourites are by Diptyque)

2. Take a bath and breathe –as you breathe in, feel yourself feeling up with bright white light, as you exhale , blow away all the tiredness and stress. I fill my tub with gorgeous oils and foams from Abahna.

3. You could even hold a crystal whilst you are in the bath or put the crystal in your bath water – try rose quartz or aventurine to calm and balance you, citrine to uplift your load and bring in some happiness or moonstone to balance your emotions.

4. Dead sea salts are also fabulous to help rid you of toxins (from over indulging) and clear your aura of any negativity

5. To further protect your own energy from other people’s, carry a sodalite crystal – you can keep this on you in your pocket, in your bra or handbag.  It absorbs all negativity energy.  To protect your energy whilst working – out a piece of black tourmaline in front of your computer, or laptop, this too will protect you from electro-magnetic smog – which tends to have a draining effect.

6. Drink lots of water – it will help to clear your body of toxins and help to hydrate you should you decide to have a glass too many of alcohol.

7. As you step out, take a big breathe, smile and shine!
